Wildlife & Archaeology Tour Folk Festival Special starting Saturday 23 – 30 May 2015 – tour leader Steve Sankey.  As it’s the Orkney Folk Festival Weekend, we will offer optional visits to the major Orkney Folk Festival Events as part of this week’s itinerary. This tour will also visit the islands of Hoy, South Ronaldsay and Westray; and will visit the main archaeological sites of the Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae and the Tomb of the Eagles. Expect to see around 90 species of birds, including our seabirds, birds of prey (hen harriers especially) and any summer arrivals. Cetaceans are also a possibility during the month of May (orcas, minke whales, porpoises and dolphins). Accommodation will be provided by the Georgian Manse of Pentland Country House in the East Mainland of Orkney, overlooking the Churchill Barriers and Scapa Flow. See www.pentlandcountryhouse.co.uk .
