Steve has been visiting Orkney’s close neighbour Shetland for 40 years and knows the islands extremely well. This tour takes in many of the South Shetland bird sites: Noss NNR and Sumburgh Head for seabirds, especially puffins and gannets; and an unforgettable evening trip to Mousa to see the storm petrel colony at the spectacular Pictish broch. Whilst on the Mainland we also visit the black volcanic scenery of Papa Stour (Steve’s favourite Shetland island!) and Eshaness, and search for otters in some favourite spots. Lerwick with its fine museum is also visited. Accommodation is provided by the Busta House Hotel – see www.bustahouse.com

Then we move further north still, to our base on Unst, the northernmost part of the UK. Here we visit 3 more islands: Fetlar (for red-necked phalaropes and whimbrel); Unst (for bonxies, puffins and gannets at Hermaness NNR, and rare flowers at the Keen o’Hamar NNR); and Yell for its beautiful coastal scenery. Accommodation is provided by the Baltasound Hotel – see www.baltasoundhotel.co.uk

Transport is by means of our 9 seater minibus. Tour size is usually restricted to a maximum of 6 so that you are guaranteed lots of individual attention. Please click here to book. Cost £1,450 but the ‘Early Bird’ offer of £1,395 is available, see above. THIS TOUR IS NOW FULL.
